Adaptive Technology

Computer stations
Adaptive technology computer stations are located on the third floor of the Downtown Library. They are reserved for people with disabilities who require specific adaptive software and hardware, and who cannot use other Library computers. 

Each station provides the following:
  • 27" monitor
  • Braille embosser – prints documents in Braille. Find instructions here to prepare your document for printing, or call for information: 541-682-5450, press 2.
  • Height adjustable table
  • JAWS - reads onscreen text aloud through headphones. Patrons must be familiar and proficient in its use.
  • Keyboard with extra-large letters
  • Roller trackball
  • ZoomText - magnifies the onscreen view and can read onscreen text aloud - Instructions
  • Telesensory – color video magnification to enlarge print (books, letters, photos, etc.)
  • Video Relay Service (aka VRS or Sorenson) - Instructions
All Library computers feature Big Shot, providing screen magnification up to 200%.

Library events
An ASL interpreter or FM assistive listening system can be arranged for any Library event with two business days’ advance reservation by contacting Eugene Public Library by email or phone: 541-682-5454.
