Sustainable Sport Events Pilot Project

As part of the City’s on-going efforts to promote sustainable business practices throughout the community, the Waste Prevention program is initiating a Sustainable Sport Events Incentive Pilot project to advance sustainable practices in Eugene's events industry.

By adopting a Triple Bottom Line approach to event management--addressing the local environment, economy, and social equity--sports can capture the interest of fans and community volunteers and build support for sustainability actions throughout the community making it the norm.

The local sports industry is strategically positioned to increase the demand for sustainable services and motivate local suppliers to innovate their product and service offerings. This furthers the development of a sustainable business ecosystem that reduces environmental impacts and builds greater equity within the community.
