The Bold Steps award, re-launched in 2014, recognizes Eugene-based businesses operating with a triple bottom line, balancing the needs of people and the planet with prosperity. The award represents a partnership between the City of Eugene, Mayor Lucy Vinis, and BRING’s RE:think program.
Some of PIVOT Architecture’s triple bottom line efforts include:
Focusing on designing buildings with a smaller environmental footprint through design, product selection, energy savings and site-specific solutions.
Striving to use locally and regionally sourced materials, recycled materials, less-toxic and renewable resources to construct sustainable buildings.
Hosting office-wide staff meetings and workshops focused on sustainability topics, and fostering a culture of employee mentorship and stewardship to ensure the company’s success in the leadership of subsequent generations.
Additionally, in 2016, PIVOT employees donated more than 2,000 hours of volunteer time during their 2016 “Give Back” campaign to celebrate their 60th year in business.
PIVOT gets to take the Bold Steps trophy back to their place of business to display for one year. For the City of Eugene, sustainability means considering and balancing all three aspects of the triple bottom line – people, planet and prosperity – to address the community’s present needs without compromising future generations. The Bold Steps award recognizes businesses that embody this vision and are taking bold steps in each area of the triple bottom line.
To qualify for consideration for the Bold Steps award, businesses must be certified through the RE:think program, offered through BRING Recycling.
