Educational resources for growing food and raising chickens can be found throughout Eugene and the surrounding area.Here are a few of those resources to get you started:
  • City of Eugene and OSU Extension in Lane County provide free hands-on compost demonstrations offered in the metro area throughout the year, designed for beginner to advanced compost learners.
  • Fact Sheets from the Waste Prevention and Green Building guide2Green program include information on composting plant debris, making the most of leaves, how to recycle garden related items, urban chickens, and sustainable gardening methods. Please see our Quicklinks section to view fact sheets.
  • Nearby Nature staff and volunteers lead nature walks, teach summer day camps, and teach adult workshops.
  • The Eugene Backyard Farmer provides classes on raising city chickens.
