Flood

Definition

Floods cause loss of life and damage to structures, crops, land, flood control structures, roads and utilities. Floods also cause erosion and landslides and can transport debris and toxic products that cause secondary damage.

Preparing for Unexpected Overflows

All rivers, creeks and streams in the Eugene area have the potential to flood, and any structures within their flood plains are at risk of flooding. In extreme cases, heavy rains can also cause flooding in areas away from creeks and streams.
