Transportation Options: Strategies for a Growing Eugene is a project to identify policies and programs that encourage or require transportation demand management by large employers and in new development.

South Willamette Street: 2014-21
The South Willamette Street Improvement project updates South Willamette Street into a vibrant urban corridor accessible by bike, foot, car, and bus. The project will restripe the street with one travel lane in each direction, a center turn-lane, and bike lanes on both sides of the street. Other design elements include improved sidewalks, driveways, access ramps, and pedestrian-scale street lighting and rain gardens.

Northeast Eugene Livable Streets: 2012-21
The Northeast Livable Streets projects will upgrade major crossings, increasing connectivity and improving local transportation connections for people walking and biking in Northeast Eugene. The projects will enhance pedestrian crossings across arterial streets (streets with high traffic volumes and speeds) and add pavement markings and wayfinding signs.

Central Eugene in Motion: 2019-22
Started in early 2019, the Central Eugene In Motion study explored planned and potential transportation changes with a focus on three key areas: Downtown on 8th Avenue, Midtown Willamette Street, and the Amazon to Riverfront Connection. The study explored transportation design options to improve travel for people walking, biking, busing, and driving to and through Downtown Eugene. The final projects selected for implementation include: the 8th Avenue Streetscape & Bike Lanes, the Willamette Street Two-Way Conversion, and the High Street Bikeway.

Railroad Quiet Zone: 2018-22
The City of Eugene Transportation Railroad Quiet Zone (RRQZ) project establishes a “whistle-free” zone in Downtown Eugene and the Whiteaker neighborhood. The quiet zone will silence the train horns through the heart of Eugene, eliminating 70 percent of the train horn noise. The project design elements prioritize safety and will keep people walking, biking, and driving off the tracks as trains approach. Design elements include medians, quad gates, pedestrian gates, and converting Jefferson Street to a one-way street.

Franklin Boulevard Transformation
The City of Eugene Transportation Franklin Boulevard Transformation project focuses on improving Franklin Boulevard (Alder Street to I-5). The project will transform the busy road into a multi-modal urban street that makes it easier for people to safely walk, bike, bus, and drive to and through the corridor.

MovingAhead
The MovingAhead project is a partnership between the City of Eugene, Lane Transit District, and other regional partners. MovingAhead focuses on connecting people to jobs, schools, shopping, recreation, and other activities by considering a range of transportation investments along key corridors to improve safety and livability.
