The City of Eugene sets rates and standards for solid waste, recycling, food waste, and yard debris collection within the city limits. Waste Prevention staff work with residents, businesses, and licensed haulers to ensure the waste collection system operates smoothly and efficiently. Did you know garbage and recycling bins can remain on the curb for no more than 24 hours? It is a City Rule, but it is also who we are. We are residents of Eugene who contribute to more livable, less cluttered streets, and enjoy making a little thunder along the way.
The City of Eugene regulates solid waste, recycling and yard debris collection within the city limits. This includes licensing haulers, developing standards and setting rates for collection service. Collection services are provided by licensed haulers. Haulers may collect from any area in Eugene. Please contact one of our listed haulers to set up a new service.
Single-use items such as straws, utensils, stirrers, condiment packaging, bags, and polystyrene food and beverage containers present problems for environmental and human health when they become litter. Acknowledging these problems, City Council passed ordinances in 2019 that places restrictions on these items.
