Artist Bio
My story begins at an early age. Growing up as an only child, I had to figure out ways to keep myself entertained and art was my pastime. It was a way to keep me engaged with my creative side. I loved to draw, scribble and color. Over the years, I continued exploring my creative side. I doodled, sketched, painted, printed and drew whenever possible. I completed the International Baccalaureate in Art during my years in high school. It was during these years that I knew I wanted to study art and continue in this profession. I attended the University of Oregon and received my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Fiber Arts in 2005. Since then, I have been creating and selling art to people all around the world. It has been a joy being able to share my art, my passion and my labor of love with so many.
Artist Statement
Art is my first language and my deepest meditation. I visit familiar lands and explore new territory in my work. My artwork " Breaking Free" shows multiple openings, all cut out with my dad's old X-Acto knife. My dad read and collected news that was worthwhile, while I cut pictures, shapes and letterings out of his old magazines. I've always been fascinated with cutout images. Beneath the openings and cutouts, there's an ombre painted background, from turquoise to teal to green. This represents the lockdown of two years, a time of physical restraint, which allowed my mind to play freely with ideas. These carefully cut out openings form a geometry of hope and possibilities for me in this year of 2022. There is a fragility in my artwork that defines our vulnerability as we explore these openings on our own, coming out cautiously from the epidemic.
