Artist Bio
David Becker is a digital artist and retired railroad engineer based in Eugene. They have lived in Oregon all of their life except for four years in the Navy. Becker has always been interested in art, photography and later digital art. They are a self-taught multimedia artist who uses photography to capture and collect raw material to realize the ideas in their mind. They draw inspiration from everything they see or an idea may come after they capture an image. Their goal is to make my art look like a realistic photo, painting, drawing or, ideally, a little of all three. Some people consider Becker primarily a photographer, others view them as a painter, but all realize they are an artist with a unique perspective of the world that they share with others through their work. Becker has been in numerous juried art shows throughout the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii. They have also had solo shows at several galleries, including Washington Abbey, O'Brien Photo Gallery, Harris Hall at Lane County Courthouse and Island Park Gallery. They have won numerous awards at camera club competitions and juried art shows.
Artist Statement
This digital rendering of the historical Owen Rose Garden cherry tree is about a tree stripped of its leaves and extracted from its environment to reveal all the beautiful shapes, curves and details that only Mother Nature can create. The old saying "You can't see the forest for the trees" is wrong; it should say "You can't see the trees for the forest."
