Sub Supra at Riverfront ParkCall to Artists for Visual Arts Week Installations

Deadline: 9:59 p.m. (PST) on April 20, 2023

Stipend: 9 artists to receive $1,500-$2,000 each

Cultural Services and Lane Arts Council are seeking several artists to create sculptures, pole banners and audio and digital projection installations that will be displayed throughout the City for Visual Arts Week in October 2023.

This project is part of the Cultural Currents initiative, an ongoing collaboration that strengthens multicultural hubs, programming and experiences in Eugene. Funded by the Our Town grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, Cultural Currents supports diverse approaches to arts and storytelling to promote a greater sense of belonging for our community. Through this initiative we invite artists, artist collectives and arts organizations to create temporary public art installations that advance representation and narratives for groups that have historically been excluded, misrepresented and/or marginalized in the City. Artists who identify as Black, Indigenous, Asian American, Pacific Islander, Latino/a/x/e, LGTBQIA+ and those with intersecting identities are strongly encouraged to apply.

A total of 9 artists will each receive a stipend ranging from $1,500-$2,000. This call is open to all artists 18 years of age or older with a relationship to the community, culture and/or region of Eugene, Kalapuya Ilihi or the Southern Willamette Valley. Youth under the age of 18 may apply in partnership with an older mentor. Deadline for submissions is April 20 and the Cultural Currents Advisory Committee will select finalists in May. Installations will occur in late September for exhibition during Visual Arts Week, October 6-14, 2023.
