Become a Firefighter / Paramedic

If you are interested in a career as a Firefighter/Paramedic, here are some things you should do:

Minimum Qualifications and Critical Skills

Minimum Qualifications
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Acceptable driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • No Class A misdemeanor convictions within 24 months of applying
  • No felony convictions
  • No tobacco use
  • Oregon Paramedic certification
  • Two years of experience in fire fighting, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) or related fields or Associate's Degree in Fire Sciences or EMS
  • Valid Oregon driver's license
