To help accomplish its historic preservation goals, the City of Eugene established a seven member historic review board (HRB) in 1975. As a subcommittee of the Eugene Planning Commission, the HRB convenes quarterly and oversees Eugene’s Historic Preservation program, the Cultural Resource Survey Program, historic education and outreach, preservation programs, and makes determinations on the following requests:
- Designation of City landmarks
- Recommendation of properties for the National Register of Historic Places
- Moving of historic landmark buildings
- Demolition of historic landmark buildings
- Appeals of historic alteration and demolition permits
