NPR called Big Star “the unluckiest band in America.” They released only three records in their short career, each one great and completely different from the other. Despite critical acclaim, poor distribution hampered their first album and hardly anyone heard it. Nevertheless, Big Star amassed a cult following and became a huge influence on indie rock artists of the 80s and 90s, eventually achieving the recognition that eluded them in their time.
