Community Philosophy Circle
Thursday, October 13, 2022
Gather for a facilitated exploration about Finding Common Ground.
Come together to explore the theme of Finding Common Ground in a conversation facilitated by philosopher-educators Paul Bodin and Caroline Lundquist.
This monthly forum for people of all ages and backgrounds offers an opportunity to share opinions and ideas in a structured setting to explore challenging topics with civility and consideration. With a different theme each month, the conversations will address deep and universal questions about life, identity, community, and responsibility.
Bodin and Lundquist chose Finding Common Ground as this month's theme because "In these times, people need, more than ever, to be able to talk with each other about matters of importance. But how can we find common ground when society is polarized, the stakes are high, and deeply-held beliefs seem to have little in common? We'll explore whether seeking common ground with others is even possible or desirable; when it matters most to remain steadfast in our beliefs and values; and when it matters more to understand others' perspectives and empathize with their situation."
Community Philosophy Circles will take place on the second Thursday of each month at 6pm through March.
