On display in the Magazines and Newspapers Room, 2nd floor, through September: "Momentary Emotions," paintings by Uyen-thi Nguyen.

Artist statement: "I created this exhibit to showcase people and our many different faces, emotions and experiences. Each painting expresses a moment in time, a momentary emotion in the story of our lives. We can acknowledge and understand each other through shared emotions. We can also treasure those feelings that we wish to cultivate and grow, and write them into the next chapter of our lives.

Uyen-Thi (T) Nguyen is a painter living in Cottage Grove, where friendly strangers sometimes hop on your shoulder as you’re walking home. She is a recipient of several grants and awards, including the Oregon Arts Commission Artist Resiliency Grant, Lane Arts Council Individual Artist Grant and Juror’s Choice Award at the Around Oregon Annual in Corvallis. Community is integral to her work and life. Nguyen volunteers on the Springfield Arts Commission, creates youth art programs at Emerald Art Center, is a member of the Plein Air Painters of Lane County, the New Zone Gallery Artists Collective and Eugene Figurative Arts Group. Figure drawing is at the heart of her practice."
