Windfall Reading: Zvibleman and Shankman

Wednesday, September 20, 2023

This month featuring poets Jana Zvibleman and Steven Shankman.

Join Lane Literary Guild and Eugene Public Library for a monthly gathering highlighting local and regional writers, in person at the Downtown Library or live online on YouTube. This month, poets Jana Zvibleman and Steven Shankman will read their works and take questions.

Jana Zvibleman is the Poet Laureate of her backyard, which is now over the mountains in Bend, Oregon. A storyteller by heredity, she has collaborated with sculptors, painters, playwrights, buskers, and a flugelhornist. She is also a photographer, essayist, artist-on-the-loose, plus teacher of writing and other life-saving techniques. Her totally factual memoirs wander into fiction and even fantasy.

Steven Shankman holds the UNESCO Chair in Transcultural Studies, Interreligious Dialogue, and Peace and is co-director of the UNESCO Crossings Institute at the University of Oregon, where he is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of English and Classics Emeritus. His poems have appeared in Sewanee Review, Literary Imagination, Tikkun, Literary Matters, and Poetica Magazine. He has published poetic translations from classical Chinese, ancient Greek, Latin and French. His chapbook of poems, Kindred Verses, was followed in August by the publication of a book, Talmudic Verses.
