Mayor Kitty Piercy presented the City’s Building Inspection Team with an Employee Recognition Award at the 2014 State of the City Address on January 8, 2014.
Last year the City of Eugene’s Building Inspection Team conducted over 3500 inspections per month – about 176 per day. This work helps preserve and protect the public’s safety, as well as property values and the environment by ensuring that building and remodeling projects in our community meet critical safety standards.
Over the last several years, this team has also been developing new and innovative ways to better serve their customers, both in the office and in the field. They have focused on building partnerships with builders, contractors and customers to identify potential problems before they occur and working collaboratively to reduce costs and complete projects on-time. They have created mobile work stations for inspectors, built an online building permit search system and launched a smartphone app for scheduling building inspections.
The award recognizes the hard work of the entire Building Inspection Team and their willingness to learn and employ new and innovative methods in the field.
