[ARCHIVED] Track Town's greatest season of track and field

The upcoming season at Hayward Field will be anchored by two events - the IAAF World Junior Championships, making its U.S. debut, July 22-27, and the NCAA Championships, June 11-14.

Here’s the complete rundown of coming attractions in 2014:

  • The University of Oregon plays host to four meets, starting with the UO Preview on March 22, the Pepsi dual vs. Arizona on April 5, the three-day Oregon Relays on April 17-19, and the UO Twilight on May 9.
  • High school athletes take center stage May 22-24 at the OSAA state championships. Team and individual titles will be decided from the smallest Class 1A schools to the largest 6A schools.
  • The 40th annual Prefontaine Classic welcomes a star-studded cast of international athletes to the meet that was ranked as the world’s No. 1 invitational last year. It will be held May 30-31.
  • Team scoring becomes paramount at the highly competitive NCAA Championships, which return to Hayward Field for the 12th time this June. Don’t miss out on seeing which schools hoist the men’s and women’s championship trophies after four furious days of competition.
  • The USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships are July 5-6. The top two finishers in each event will represent Team USA on the same track just two weeks later at the IAAF World Junior Championships.
  • For the first time in history, the IAAF World Junior Championships are coming to the U.S. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the Olympians of tomorrow compete in front of the most passionate track and field fans in America. The six-day meet features the world’s best athletes age 19 and under representing up to 212 national federations from around the globe.
