Eugene Recreation has openings for one of the best jobs of the summer – lifeguarding at a city pool. If you are at least 15 years old and a competent swimmer, you may qualify to get the certification needed to be employed as a lifeguard this summer. In the certification course, you’ll learn valuable lifesaving and teamwork skills through hands-on practice and classroom presentations. Successful completion grants you certification as a lifeguard through the American Red Cross.
The last two certification classes of the year will be held in April and May. There won’t be another opportunity to be certified until spring of 2015, so don’t wait. Passage of a physical skills pre-test, given on the first day of class, is required to ensure candidates can safely participate. Both classes will be held at Echo Hollow Pool. The first one will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday-Friday, April 21-May 2, plus Saturday, April 26, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The second class will be held Monday-Friday, 4-8 p.m., May 5-16, plus 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, May 10. The cost for either class is $175. Interested? Call Echo Hollow Pool at 541-682-5525 for more information or to enroll.
It may turn out to be the best call you ever made.
