[ARCHIVED] Hey Kids – What’s your favorite Eugene park?

If you are between 5 and 13 ears old, you are eligible to enter the City's essay contest honoring Kids to Parks day, May 17. Just write a short essay explaining what you like about Eugene Parks and submit it. The winners in each of the two categories will win a 30-day family pass to Amazon Pool. Winning essayists will also receive an award certificate and their essay will be read aloud by Mayor Kitty Piercy at a City Council meeting and published in the Fall Recreation Guide.

There are two divisions in the essay contest: Division I is for children ages 5-9 years old. Their essay must be at least 50 words long but no more than 200 words. Division II is for youth ages 10-13. Their essay must be at least 100 words but no more than 200 words.Winning essays for each category will be judged on originality, creativity, grammar, and spelling. All essays should include the answers to at least two of these three questions:
• What is your favorite Eugene Park?
• What do you like to do there?
• How do you think we could get more kids outside to play?

So get out your pencil, pen, tablet, smart phone, or computer and write your essay! Entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13. Mail or hand-deliver your essay to:
