A “Working City” video about Eugene’s SmartTrips program has won a bronze award in the 35th Telly competition. The 4:19 minute video was produced by Metro Television in July 2013. Metro TV Channel 21 is provided as a community benefit through the Comcast Cable TV rights-of-way use agreement managed by the City’s Telecommunications Program (Information Services Division). Telecommunications program staff members support Metro TV in showcasing its work for awards such as this and are pleased when exceptional programming about the City’s efforts receives national recognition.
The SmartTrips video explains the innovative and effective incentive program developed by the City’s Transportation Planning team in the Public Works Engineering Division. In the program, Transportation Options program coordinator Lindsay Selser and former intern Moorea Strueby explain that even small amounts of informational tools and resources can convince people to walk, ride bikes or take the bus. This, in turn, allows them to rediscover their neighborhoods, save money, and improve their health.
The Telly Awards annually showcases the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world. The Telly Awards receives over 12,000 entries annually from all 50 states and many foreign countries.
