[ARCHIVED] Pedestrian-Vehicle Fatal Crash at River Road (near Irving)

Auto v. Pedestrian Fatal at River Road/Federal Way (Irving)
Case Number 14-8722

At approximately noon today, an 80-year-old Eugene male pedestrian was headed westbound outside a crosswalk and was struck by a pickup driven by a 69-year-old female, who is also from Eugene, as he was walking across River Road mid-block just south of Federal Way, near Irving. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Impairment was not an issue in the crash. EPD's Major Collision Investigation team responded and took over the investigation. Identities are being withheld until the family has been notified.

Due to a motor vehicle vs pedestrian accident southbound River Rd is currently closed at River Rd and Hunsaker, all traffic is being diverted onto Ferndale, and the Northbound lanes are restricted to one lane only. Citizens are asked to avoid the area until further notice. Emergency personnel are on scene.
