Mark your calendar for the 13th annual We Are Bethel Celebration on Saturday, June 7, noon-6 p.m., at Petersen Barn Park, 870 Berntzen Rd. Admission is free. This year’s theme is “To Steam the Impossible Steam” and is all about steam punk. Interactive sculptures by nationally known steam punk artist Steve LaRiccia will be on display in the Petersen Barn main hall alongside youth artwork in the Steam Punk Faux Show.
Attendees can really get in the steam punk groove at the event’s fashion station where folks can make their own steam punk accessories then take pictures with Paper Moon Studios.
Entertainment will be provided throughout the event including performances by the Cascade Middle School Choir and Shasta Middle School Jazz Band, a Tae Kaon Do demonstration, a performance by Pete Barn dancers and, as is the tradition, a local resident will be honored with a “Milk Toast” for his or her contributions to the neighborhood.
Other attractions at the Celebration include interactive gadgets and gizmos, more than thirty community booths, carnival games, and inflatables.
The We Are Bethel Celebration is presented by the City of Eugene in collaboration with Bethel School District and local organizations to provide a forum to showcase the neighborhood and build community.
