Project Location: Amazon Creek between Chambers Street and Garfield Street
Historically, the Amazon Creek was not a single creek, but a series of creek fingers and flooding areas. The Army Corps of Engineers channelized the Amazon Creek to provide flood control in the 1950s.
This project will stabilize eroded banks and make the bank slopes less steep. Thousands of native plants and seed mix will be added to enhance habitat potential.
Construction began summer 2013 and was suspended during the winter and is planned to continue July through October 2014. Segments of the adjacent Fern Ridge Path will be temporarily closed during construction. Watch for construction signs and equipment.
