Hundreds of youth and adults are expected to participate in the All Comers Meet at Hayward Field on Tuesday, June 26. As one of the Track Town 12 Legacy events, the meet is intended to increase youth awareness of track and field events and give individuals of all ages the opportunity to participate in track and field at historic Hayward Field.
The meet is presented by the Oregon Track Club and Nike, with logistical support provided by the City of Eugene Recreation services. It continues a history of all comers meets begun by Bill Bowerman in 1949 that had the same goal: to build enthusiasm for track and field among youth as budding athletes and among adults as track and field fans. OTC’s all comers meets still fill Hayward Field each summer for five consecutive weeks, drawing up to 500 kids (12 & younger) on Wednesday evenings and up to 250 athletes (13 & older) on Thursdays.
The All Comers Meet to be held during the Olympic Trials is free with walk up registration on the day of the meet. The youth meet begins at 2 p.m. and includes: 60m (ages 1-6), 100m (ages 7-12) or 400m (ages 7-12). The adult meet begins at 5:30 p.m. and includes: 100m and Jogger's Mile (all paces welcome).
