Yesterday at approximately 4:05 p.m., an officer was in the area of Royal Avenue and Hughes Street when police received information from an observant citizen that a person matching the ‘purse theft suspect,’ Kaylynn Colleen Whitney, age, 27, of Eugene, was in the area. The officer investigated the information and contacted Whitney, at the location and identified her as the suspect. Upon further investigation, the officer found Whitney to have in her possession, some of the items that were stolen from the victims. Whitney was Cited in Lieu of Custody for three counts of Theft in the Second Degree, three counts of Theft in the Third Degree, and for Possession of Less than One Ounce of Marijuana.

The subject in the photo is a person of interest related to a number of thefts initiated in the Winco Grocery parking lot. The female approaches her victims and tells them she is locked out of her vehicle. She then asks for a ride to the area of Malabon Elementary School. The suspect acquires the victim’s wallet before exiting the vehicle. Eugene police are investigating numerous reports similar in nature that have occurred within the last ten days.
