Eugene Recreation’s adult sports leagues offer fun, competition and an easy way to be active. One of the leagues: co-ed, self-officiated volleyball, has another interesting twist.
Each of the volleyball teams consists of six players age 14 and older with a minimum of two women and two men. In these games, team captains can call major faults, either on their own players or on a member of the opposing team. Disputes are solved between the captains, but the gym supervisor can be called upon to settle the matter or rule the point be replayed.
One very different twist to this league is that, with the mutual consent of the two captains, any of the rules may be modified to ensure all players have a fun experience.
Registration for the City of Eugene coed self-officiated volleyball program is Jan. 6-9, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Athletics Office, 2700 Hilyard Street (in Amazon Center). Teams must submit a completed team roster and the full entry fee of $180 per team at the time of registration. League play begins Thursday, Jan. 29, and continues through March.
