Fatal Crash – Oak Street/ E. 20th Avenue

The Major Collision Investigations team is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian and a St. Vincent DePaul tractor trailer truck that happened at approximately 10:19 a.m. this morning. Oak Street and E. 20th Avenue, were closed until shortly before 2 p.m., while police investigated.
The pedestrian, Ruth Ross Madson,age 78, of Eugene, was walking westbound from the Civic Stadium parking lot to 20th/Oak. The 54-year-old male driver of the truck, Arthur Taylor of Springfield, was pulling out of the parking lot to go north on Oak. Names of the involved will be released later today. ###
