[ARCHIVED] Oregon Library Employee of the Year

On Friday, April 17, the Oregon Library Association (OLA) presented its 2015 Library Employee of the Year Award to Margaret Harmon-Myers, Adult Services Library Assistant at Eugene Public Library. The award was announced at the annual OLA conference held last month at the Eugene Hilton.

The Library Employee of the Year Award is presented to an Oregon library employee who is committed to providing excellent library service to their community and has shown leadership, initiative, and willingness to share skills with the organization.

The Association recognized Ms. Harmon-Myers for her efforts at the Eugene Public Library and her commitment to serving the community. Harmon-Myers was noted for her outstanding computer and internet classes she presents to the public as well as her expertise on genealogy research. She provides excellent service to library patrons and her compassion, judiciousness and steadfast commitment to library patrons is inspiring to her co-workers.

Harmon-Myers has also served the library community state wide with her participation in the OLA Support Staff Division. She has been conference chair, mentored other library staff, presented at conferences, edited the OLA Quarterly journal and continuously demonstrates the value of paraprofessional staff to libraries and the people they serve.

The Oregon Library Association (OLA) is a 1,000 member organization made up of librarians, library staff, and library supporters at all types of Oregon libraries; public, school, academic and special.
