[ARCHIVED] Police Investigate Assault in the First Degree

Eugene Police Officers responded to University District Hospital on May 5, 2015 @ 9:10 pm for a 47 year old female suffering from a large laceration on her left forearm. The investigation revealed Michael A. Gilmore, age 34, allegedly assaulted his estranged girlfriend with a knife causing a life threatening laceration to her lower arm. UO Police originally initiated the call for service but Eugene Police assumed the investigation after jurisdiction was established.

Based on witness statements and witness assistance, officers were able to locate Gilmore’s camp, next to the river 1/8 of a mile west of Knickerbocker Bridge, in the area of Franklin Blvd and Walnut Street. Gilmore was taken into custody with the assistance of a Eugene Police K-9, Neo. Two small crime scenes were processed by a Eugene Police Forensic Technician. The investigation continues. ###
