Over the last several years, Eugene has experienced a steady and positive increase in overall construction and development activity. The Building and Permits Services Division is proposing a fee change for FY16 that would go into effect on July 1st, 2015. The proposed change will help sustainably address inflation adjustments and support ongoing service improvements. As construction and building activity increases, this modest fee increase will ensure that this self-sustaining program can continue to provide professional and timely services that are essential to our regional economic prosperity.
The proposed change (Administrative Order 53-15-07) includes an approximately 2.5% increase to building permit fees. Public comment will be accepted through June 29th via email at tim.j.westerman@ci.eugene.or.us or mail to Building Permits Administration ATTN: Tim Westerman, 99 W. 10th Ave., Eugene, OR 97401.
Building permit fees support all activities in the construction process that ensure safe buildings and facilities, from the review of proposed construction plans and permits to final inspections. Building and Permit Services has launched several initiatives aimed at increasing access to services. Online building plans submission - eBuild - is now active with developers and homeowners submitting building plans electronically. The launch of eBuild moves Eugene’s Building and Permit Services closer to the goal of processing all permit applications electronically. Providing quicker and easier access to building services also promotes the safety, livability, and economic vitality of our community.
