[ARCHIVED] A Vision for Soft Trails in Eugene

The final open house on the Eugene Trails Plan will be held Tuesday, July 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parks and Open Space Conference Room, 1820 Roosevelt Blvd., in west Eugene.

Plan and maps will be available at a drop-in open house, and there will be opportunities for comments, feedback and suggestions.

The plan covers soft-surface or unpaved trails including running, hiking, mountain biking and water trails. It proposes a vision for the future, a list of prioritized projects including additional hiking, mountain biking, jogging and potentially water trails.- which could over the next two decades expand the system from about 40 to over 100 miles - as well as a number of feasibility studies needed to help implement the vision.

Considering existing budgets and current funding sources, it’s highly unlikely the Parks and Open Space Division will be able to implement and maintain all the listed projects over the next decade or two. The current prioritization scheme will be presented at the open house on July 28.
