Proposed improvements for people who walk and bike on East and West Amazon Drive between Hilyard and Snell streets will be discussed at a public information meeting on Tuesday, August 18, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Hilyard Community Center, 2580 Hilyard Street.
The proposed improvements include a two-way “cycle track” with a concrete traffic separator on East Amazon Drive, three 10-foot-wide bicycle/pedestrian bridges across upper Amazon Creek, intersection improvements on Hilyard Street at 33rd or 34th avenues, and an extension of Amazon Path on the west side of Hilyard to Tugman Park.
The City of Eugene has received a $1.7 million grant from the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Active Transportation Program to fund the improvements. Construction of the improvements most likely will occur in 2017 or 2018. For more information, visit the project web site or contact Associate Transportation Planner Reed Dunbar or call 541-682-5727.
