[ARCHIVED] Police Investigate Fatal Crash at Crescent and Chuckanut

Travelers are still being asked to avoid the Crescent Avenue from Coburg to Gilham due to a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred around 9:14 a.m., today.

While the Eugene Police Major Collision Investigation Team is in the beginning stages of crash investigation, preliminary indications are that a 2011 gold Cadillac sedan was travelling northbound on Chuckanut and a 1993 dark blue Ford Ranger was headed eastbound on Crescent when they collided.

The male driver of the Cadillac was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The female driver of the pickup was taken to another local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

The roadway will be shut down for an undetermined amount of time while EPD’s Major Collision Investigation Team (MCI) conduct their investigation.

Names of the involved drivers are expected to be released late this afternoon after next of kin have had a chance to call other family members and close friends.
