[ARCHIVED] Amber Alert Leads to Recovery of Child

Case No.15-15162

On September 5, 215, at 8:23 P.M. the Eugene Police Department received a call of a dispute between two males and female at the Albertson’s Store parking lot, located at 311 Coburg Rd.

Upon arrival officers discovered the dispute involved a disagreement regarding the custody of a 4-year-old child.

Prior to police arrival the 48-year-old biological father, was assaulted by the biological mother’s 46-year-old boyfriend. While the biological father was being assaulted, the biological mother retrieved the child from biological father’s vehicle and departed the area with the child and her boyfriend. Due to the circumstances regarding a pending child custody agreement and the manner the child was taken, the Eugene Police Department contacted the Oregon State Police and an Amber Alert was issued.

Eugene Police officers, with the assistance of the Springfield Police Department, searched for the child and the mother throughout the night. At approximately 7:44 a.m. today, the biological mother called the police after receiving the Amber Alert message on her cell phone. Officers responded to her location in West Eugene and recovered the child who was not harmed. The child was returned to the biological father. No charges were filed at this time as the investigation is still continuing.
