[ARCHIVED] Public and Police Respond to Post-game Traffic Snarls

Eugene Police Department thanks motorists for their patience with the slow traffic after the UO football game on Saturday. Helping more than 50,000 people out of the area is a technical operation. Complicating that yesterday were some incidents that further congested the area, causing delays: There was a report of a crash on I-105, and at the same time, an OSP pursuit in the area related to a woman in mental distress.

In the latter case, a 40-year-old woman having a mental health crisis drove off from her home and nearly struck a couple of motorists in the Autzen Stadium area. She continued driving recklessly through town generating calls for service but she was not immediately located. A while later, OSP tried to stop her somewhere up north and she eluded. An OSP pursuit was initiated and it came into town on I-105 and exited at Coburg Rd. There was heavy post-game foot and vehicular traffic in the area. EPD was not involved in the pursuit but were in the area of Country Club and I-105 when she came through. She was pinned between an EPD vehicle and OSP (no contact) and taken into custody without incident.###
