[ARCHIVED] Police Investigate Crash at Beltline near I-5

Eugene Police and Springfield Police responded to a crash on Beltline near I-5 at 5:52 p.m. involving a white 2008 Dodge box truck turning eastbound onto Beltline from southbound I-5 and a white 1998 Chevy Blazer that was traveling westbound on Beltline.

The Chevy hit the box truck in the side as it was turning at the traffic light, flipping it on its side. The driver of the Chevy, Geraldine Dorae Brooks, age 85,of Eugene, was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The male driver of the box truck, Michael Edward Nee, age 44, of Springfield, had minor injuries and was provided a courtesy ride to a hospital for treatment by Springfield Police.

Investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash to please contact Officer Joe Fritts at 541.682.5576.
