[ARCHIVED] New Year Brings Early End to Leaf Season

The leaf season has ended in Eugene, a week earlier than anticipated.

As of 3 p.m., no leaves or other debris should be placed in the street. Residents are responsible for removing materials left in the streets in front of their homes or businesses.

Leaf collection was expected to run through next week, but crews reported lighter leaf volume on their second round through the City. 2015’s unusual weather pattern likely played a role in trees dropping their leaves earlier than normal.

Residents with leftover leaves or other yard debris can recycle them in home compost piles, take them to Lane Forest Products or Rexius Forest By-Products, who recycle leaves and woody debris for a small fee, or contact their local solid waste haulers for information on the curbside yard debris pickup program.
