[ARCHIVED] Investigators Seeking Witnesses in Woman’s Death

Case No. 16-1188

At 11:34 a.m., on Saturday, January 23, officers were dispatched to the President Apartments, 555 Tyler, regarding a welfare check for a woman lying in the parking lot. The woman, in her late 40s, was found in the parking lot, up against some bushes, deceased.

The woman was identified as someone who frequently sleeps in a nearby apartment. Because there was no obvious signs pointing to a reason for her death, Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit detectives and the Medical Examiner responded to the location.

Investigators are awaiting an autopsy by the Medical Examiner, who will determine the manner and cause of the woman’s death. In the meantime, detectives are hoping that any witnesses who may have seen anything to contact Detective Jed McGuire at 541.682.6308.

The identity of the woman is being withheld until next of kin has been notified.
