[ARCHIVED] Man Arrested in Hit and Run (W. 24th Avenue incident)

On March 16 at 1:21 a.m., a 63-year-old man living in a residence in the 1800 block of W. 24th Avenue was awakened by a loud crashing sound. It turned out that a 2003 silver Saturn sedan had run into his house. Two people were spotted walking from the vehicle.

Police responded, including with a K9 unit. A 26-year-old involved female was located nearby and a male, Howard Stone Coburn, age 28, of Eugene, was outstanding. Police issued an Attempt to Locate Coburn.

At about 12:30 p.m. today, March 16, an LTD security officer spotted Coburn and immediately alerted the Downtown Bike Team. Coburn had been walking at 8th and Olive. Police responded and Coburn became aware of their presence and disappeared into a building. Coburn went upstairs and then tried to escape out the back, where an EPD officer was waiting to take him into custody.

Coburn was arrested without incident on charges of Unauthorized Use of Vehicle and Hit and Run. (Case 16-04256)
