[ARCHIVED] Alton Baker Death Investigation

Update at 7:30 p.m. May 4

Patrol Officers were dispatched to a subject down at Alton Baker Park. On arrival, they contacted Alexander Delon Davenport, age 25. Davenport required medical treatment and was transported to the hospital where he subsequently passed away. At this time, the Eugene Police Department is treating this as a suspicious death. Any persons with information are asked to contact Detective Jed McGuire at 541-682-6308.

Update at 11:55 a.m. May 4
The entrance to Alton Baker Park has reopened. The restroom and area nearby continues to be closed while the investigation continues.

Update at 9:17 a.m. May 4
The man has subsequently died at a local hospital. The Violent Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate. If anyone has relevant tips or information in the case, they are asked to contact Detective Jed McGuire at 541.682.6308.

Previously Released Information:
The entrance to Alton Baker is closed after an adult male was found on the ground injured at approximately 6:03 a.m. He was taken to a local hospital on a full trauma activation. Police are investigating. Thank you for your patience while the entrance is closed.
