[ARCHIVED] Police Charge Three in Alton Baker Park Homicide

On May 4, 2016, patrol officers were dispatched to Alton Baker Park for a subject down at Alton Baker Park. On arrival, they contacted Alexander Delon Davenport, age 25. Davenport required medical treatment and was transported to the hospital where he subsequently passed away due to his injuries.

After an extensive investigation, the following individuals have been indicted for the death of Alexander Davenport along with additional crimes:

Javelet, John Marque 08-04-70 of Eugene
• Charges – Murder, Robbery 1, four counts of Rape

Ferlaak, Michael Matthew 05/31/68 - no known address
• Charges – Murder, Robbery 1

Both Javelet and Ferlaak were arraigned on August 1 at the Eugene Circuit Court.

In addition, Eugene Police Department Violent Crimes Unit detectives travelled to Nevada and with the generous help of the U.S. Marshals Service, Lander County Sheriff’s Office, and Fallon Nevada Police Department, took the third suspect, Joshua Welsey Sherman, age 41, into custody.

The assistance of the following law enforcement agencies was invaluable to the apprehension and investigation in this case: US Marshals Service – Eugene and Reno Divisions, Lander County Nevada Sheriff’s Office and Churchill County Sheriff’s office both of Nevada, Fallon Nevada Police Department, the DEA, Springfield Police Department and the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
