The Eugene Airport is on pace to set another passenger record in 2016. Due in part to the utilization of United Airlines’ mainline aircraft and the Olympic Trials, EUG set an all-time monthly record in June with 93,181 arriving and departing passengers. July brought a record number of enplanements. As of July 31, the airport is up 7.65 percent year-to-date over activities through July 31, 2015.
“This averages out to a takeoff or landing happening every seven minutes,” said Eugene Airport Director Tim Doll, A.A.E. “As we proceed through the busy summer months, we expect business to only continue to increase.”
These new passenger records come as the terminal expansion project enters its final phase of construction. The beautiful new vertical circulation, expanded bag claim area and spacious B-Gates hold room are now open. Phase three includes the expansion and relocation of the TSA Screening Checkpoint. All the improvements are in response to multiple years of record growth at the airport.
