[ARCHIVED] Driver, owner of car found submerged in pond are accounted for and safe

submerged car

This morning at 8:45 a.m., 911 received a call that a vehicle was submerged in the Booth Kelly Pond. At the time it was unknown if there were any individuals inside. Northwest Expressway was temporarily shut down from the Maxwell Connector to Cornwall so that emergency personnel could respond. No one was found inside and an investigation found that the driver and the registered owner were both accounted for and safe. The driver had crashed last night and received a ride home.

How did the driver get out of the vehicle?

The 22-year-old driver reported he slid on the roadway and as he was headed toward the pond, he hit his driver's side window button to open it, was able to get out the window and swim to shore.
