[ARCHIVED] Keep Storm Debris out of Leaf Piles

The Eugene Public Work’s leaf collection and delivery program will continue in a reduced capacity starting Monday. The program was suspended due to the ice storm. Public Works is asking all residents to keep storm debris out of all leaf piles. Debris includes trees, branches, bushes, and landscaping material, anything that’s not tree leaves.

Public Works delivers a majority of the leaves it collects to residents who request them during leaf season for composting. Any debris will make the leaves unusable for composting.

Starting Monday, one crew will return to leaf collection. They will initially focus in previously uncollected areas in the north and southwest areas of the city. People in those neighborhoods can still neatly place their leaves curbside this weekend and crews will be by next week to pick up the leaves.

The remaining leaf collection teams remain dedicated to storm response.

Public Works is assessing the second round collection schedule following the ice storm and its impact on resources.
