The local American Red Cross will continue to operate a shelter for people affected by widespread power outages in the Eugene area. The Red Cross shelter at Spencer Butte Middle School will remain open through tonight, December 20, and is scheduled to close tomorrow, December 21, at noon. The decision to close is based on the assessment of community needs and power restoration progress.

Individuals and families affected by power outages and in need of a warm and safe place to stay, meals, shower, access to power outlets to charge cell phones, Wi-Fi and snacks may simply show up to the shelter for help through tomorrow, December 21, at noon.
Community members may call 541-682-5900 for additional information. This number will be staffed December 20 and 21, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you know of a neighbor or community member who needs help or needs transportation to the shelter, please call 541-682-5900 during operating hours.

Lane County Emergency Management has activated a help line at 2-1-1 for people still without power and experiencing a crisis. The help line will give people a number to call to be connected with resources that may assist them with unique needs brought on by the widespread, long-term power outages. The call center will be open Sunday – Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The community is asked to help get the word out.
