[ARCHIVED] Public Works Crews Ready for Another Snow/Ice Storm

City of Eugene Public Works crews are ready to sand roads and respond to tree failures as yet another storm makes its way to Eugene on Saturday. The ice-snow emergency declaration is still in effect and community members are asked to move cars parked on priority transportation routes to allow emergency vehicles, and snow, ice and tree response vehicles to move safely. A map of these priority routes can be viewed at www.eugene-or.gov/snow.

For questions about City of Eugene Public Works’ response to the current ice-snow emergency please call 541-682-4800. Lane County has issued some preparation tips for community members. 

This storm is predicted to be similar to December 14-16, 2016 storm that included snow and freezing rain. The storm should begin early Saturday morning and transition to freezing rain Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Please consider maintaining adequate:

  • Firewood, propane, and generator fuel.
  • Vehicle fuel tanks should be maintained at 1/2 tank or more.
  • Drinking water and non-perishable food for family, pets, and livestock.
  • Recharge or purchase batteries for safety and medical devices.
  • Awareness of vulnerable trees weakened from the December ice storm and take measures to protect your property and vehicles.
  • Sheltering for pets in the event you must leave your home.
  • Awareness of elderly, disabled, families, and individuals who may need support.
