City Boards and Commissions Seeking New Applicants

Eugene residents looking for new opportunities to get involved with the community can apply now for a number of City boards and commissions. Each year, a number of openings occur within the City’s boards and commissions, and City staff carry out an annual recruitment process to fill the open positions with new or returning members.  

The members of boards and commissions provide an invaluable service to our city. They advise the City Council and City staff on a wide variety of subjects by making recommendations on important policy matters. The detailed studies and considered advice provided by members of boards and commissions often inspires innovative programs and improved services within the City.

Residents interested in participating in local government and helping to improve the community may consider applying for the following openings:

  • Budget Committee (3 openings)
  • Civilian Review Board (3 openings)
  • Historic Review Board (2 openings)
  • Human Rights Commission (3 openings)
  • Planning Commission (2 openings)
  • Sustainability Commission (4 openings)
  • Toxics Board (3 openings)
  • Whilamut CPC (2* openings)
  • Library Advisory Board (3 openings)

Applications for open positions will be accepted through the City of Eugene Boards and Commissions application page from January 17 through March 31, 2017. Updates and additional information can be found on the Boards and Commissions homepage.

* One of the Whilamut CPC's two open positions is part of an accelerated recruitment cycle. The applications for this position close on March 15th, and the term for this position will begin immediately following appointment by City Council. The term will expire on June 30, 2017, with the option to reapply for a second 3-year term.
