Eugene Public Works staff have completed the removal of high-hanging broken limb hazards on several trails throughout the Ridgeline Trail System.
Newly opened trails include:
- Amazon Headwaters Trail
- Fox Hollow to Dillard Loop Trail
- Dillard Connector Trail
The Spencer Butte Main and West trails are the only other Ridgeline Trails open to the public at this time. Several trails remain closed until further notice:
- Willamette to Fox Hollow Trail
- Blanton Ridge Trail
- Hendricks Park Forest Trails
- Mt. Baldy Trails
“We understand this may be frustrating for some folks who want to get back on the trails, but public safety is a top priority,” said Chris Girard, acting Incident Commander. “Removing tree-related hazards and repairing the paths throughout the Ridgeline system will likely take several more months.”
As higher priority areas are completed, more resources will be available to work on clearing hazards from the Ridgeline Trail System. It’s estimated the December ice storm caused about $55,000 in damages to the trail system. Much of the damage won’t be fully repaired until this summer.
