[ARCHIVED] Public Hearing on Proposed Stormwater/Wastewater Rate Increase

The Eugene Public Works Department will hold a public hearing on the proposed increases to the stormwater and wastewater user fees.

Under the recommendation of the Public Works Wastewater Policy Team, a proposed administrative order and notice of intended wastewater rates have been issued to authorize a four percent increase in local user fees, effective July 1, 2017. This will increase the local portion of the monthly wastewater bill for a typical residential customer by $0.43 per month, from $10.87 to $11.30. The local fee increase will continue the existing list of services, fund capital improvement projects to reduce the amount of stormwater entering the collection system during peak wet weather periods, and maintain the sub-surface collection system during road resurfacing projects.

Following direction by the Public Works Stormwater Policy team, a proposed administrative order and notice of intended stormwater rates have been issued to authorize a four percent increase in stormwater user fees, effective July 1, 2017. This will increase the monthly stormwater bill for a typical residential customer2 about $0.56 per month, from $13.87 to $14.43. The increase is needed to continue to return clean water to our rivers, protect public health and safety, enhance fish and wildlife habitat, and meet the other objectives of Eugene’s stormwater program.

The public hearing on both rate increases is set for May 2, at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be in the Les Lyle Conference Room, 99 E. Broadway, 4th floor (Wells Fargo building).
